Episode 6/Season Finale - Amanda Rich!!!

Here we go, everybody, the final episode of "Season 1" of Up Late is officially online. 6 weeks of a show might not seem like that much work, but I'm pretty damn excited that I don't have to start stressing about having another show in a week!

Now I've got some good news and some bad news:

The bad news is that some of my footage of the interview glitched out, so Part 3 is a little jumpy. But oh well, its not as though the show looked professional before. Deal with it.

The good news is that, because I have a signifigant glitch in the episode, I can finally make use of my favorite graphic that Mike Costa made for us. Check it out at the beginning of Part 3. I like it so much I'd use it as the main logo for the show. Actually, it'd be pretty fitting given the general quality of the show.

Alright, that's enough prefacing, check out the show!

And that's that! Make sure you click the "thumbs up" under each part and leave a comment. We'll almost immediately be starting work on "Season 2" of the show, so make sure you keep sending us emails at UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com! Especially if you want to come to a show or be a guest!!

Okay, time to sit back and be lazy.

We'll seeya soon,

Episode 5 - Mike Schin!!!

Well woohoo, everybody, I'm happy to say that Episode 5 of Up Late is officially online! In this episode, we (Allie, Kristen, and myself) take a little time to finally share part of our lives with you, and then our good friend Mike Schin comes in to talk some good old fashioned sci-fi with us! It's a blast.

But I'm afraid I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. First let's do this right by sending off Episode 4 with Mike Costa!

I chatted with Costa tonight about his episode:

WR: What did you think of your episode?

MC: It was terrible.

WR: Well thanks man, I like it too...wait, what? Oh god...ok...Uh, What was your favorite part of your interview?

MC: Leaving.

WR: What the hell? I thought we had a good time. Well, what did you like the least?

MC: Agreeing to come.

WR: Dude, that's...ok...dammit...Um, my last question is: Would you ever consider doing the show again?

MC: Sure, why not.

WR: ...I want you to know that I hate you, Mike...

So there you have it, everybody, that's a wrap on Episode 4 starring my GOOD FRIEND Mike Costa! Now dig in to Episode 5:

Monologue:

Sketch:

Interview:

I hope you enjoy(ed) the episode, and as usual, please make sure you comment and like each segment.

Now I'd very quickly like to explain what will be happening with the show from here on. Tonight's episode is the second-to-last episode of our current run of episodes, meaning next week's show (Episode 6) will be the FINAL episode of what I suppose you could consider "Season 1" of the show. No cliffhangers. The reason for this is so that we can take a little bit of time off to refine the show, and when we come back with Season 2, there will be a few changes that I think everyone will be on board with.

So what I need from you is to keep sending in suggestions and requests (especially if you'd like to be in the audience or to be a guest) to UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com, because we always appreciate it when you guys let us know what you'd like to see!

So enjoy the episode, and stay tuned!

It's time for EPISODE 4!!!

I can't believe that we're already onto Episode 4 of Up Late. It's absolutely unbelievable to me.

I'm thrilled about tonight's show, it was so much fun to film, and a shocking amount of fun to edit (I hate editing). Our guest tonight is my good friend Michael Costa, of course, but before we get to him, we need to bid a proper farewell to the era of Episode 3 featuring Matt Battaglia.

This episode was hilarious. I really consider it to be as good as our show can ever be, and it's in no small part due to how funny Matt is. For those of you who don't know, I met Matt through Mike Costa, and Episode 3 is not the first time he and I worked together. A few months ago, Matt was working on illustrating a comic book for a script which Bobby Koester (my Episode 1 guest [see how it all ties together?]) and I wrote. Unfortunately, that project was tossed aside (due to an uncomfortable similarity to a popular show), but it was fantastic to get to interview Matt on the show. You can just see how funny and talented he is. Again, if you haven't already done so, I urge you to go to www.MattJBatt.com to learn more about him and see more of his work.

I caught up with Matt to ask him some questions about his performance on the show.

WR: So, what did you think of doing the show?

MB: Being a guest was random and confusing and weird. Also, hearing my voice was weird. My voice isn't normal.

WR: What was your favorite aspect of it?

MB: I think we had a really fun show, I enjoyed the time. Granted it was just us being a bunch of idiots, but in a slightly more formal manner. Fun evening.

WR: What did you like the least?

MB: Confused over whether I was laughed at or with.

WR: You were definitely laughed WITH. I think you're hilarious. Would you ever consider doing the show again?

MB: As long as you want to deal with me again. Ha.

WR: Haha, without a doubt, I love that episode.

So there you have it, the time of Episode 3 is finished, and now it's time for Episode 4 to take over! It's a total blast, so please, dig in! OH, and don't forget to LIKE/COMMENT on the videos!!!

Part One:

Part Two:

And Part Three:

There you have it everyone, ENJOY! And as always, please send ALL questions/comments/complaints/suggestions (Do you want to come to a taping or BE A GUEST ON THE SHOW??? [free pizza!]) to UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com!!!

Seeya soon,

Up Late with Will Rogers - Episode 3 with Matt Battaglia!!!

Great news, everybody! Episode 3 of Up Late is officially ONLINE!

But first things first, let's properly send off Episode 2 with Allie Palmer! That episode was a lot of fun to set up, because a great deal of the set-up involved keeping Allie in the dark about what I wanted to do for the interview. In case you weren't aware, Allie is just as important to the show as Kristen and I are. She's sort of the "fifth Beatle" of Up Late. She may not always be on camera, but she's always there (keeping me in line). So Kristen and I had to have sneaky conversations about setting up our "romantic" restaurant concept.

I asked Allie what she thought of being a guest on the show:

AP: I thought it was fun

WR: How enlightening. What was your favorite part of your interview?

AP: It was just getting to hang out with my best buds.

WR: Deep stuff. I'm glad I'm doing this follow up interview. What did you like the least?

AP: The poetry sections. I thought it was unfair. UNFAIR.

WR: Why?

AP: Because you didn't have to write one about ME, you big jackass!

WR: Would you ever consider being a guest on the show again?

AP: Absolutely not. I guess I'll be your pinch hitter. Just in case you can't get Lindsay Lohan to do the Top 10. Now that's topical!

It certainly is topical. So there you have it. And now that we've got THAT out of the way, lets move blissfully into the Matt Battaglia chapter of Up Late, here we go:

Part One:

Part Two:

Part Three:

Please remember to comment/like each video, we very greatly appreciate whatever feedback you can offer us. And similarly, we would really like to hear your opinions. E-mail us any compliments, complaints, suggestions, or requests (would you like to be a guest?) to UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com

And mostly, just enjoy the show!

Picking up steam!

At the urging of Allie, I've just started editing episode 3, and I can pretty much confirm here and now that this is the best episode we've done yet.

In the same way that I had bonus footage to share of my interview with Bobby Koester, I have got bonus footage of my episode 3 guest. And it's not just ONE bonus video. It's not just TWO bonus videos. I WILL HAVE 3, count 'em, 3 BONUS VIDEOS to share of my guest, Matt Battaglia.

Stay tuned guys. Wednesday night at 11:00 you'll want to be sitting in front of your computer, I promise.

And as always, remember to send us your suggestions/requests to us at UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com.

I'm also, I should say, accepting requests to come to a taping or BE A GUEST ON THE SHOW! So send in your requests, we always have a good time (and we always have pizza)!

Welcome to Episode 2!!

Alright everybody, here it is, the 2nd Episode of Up Late With Will Rogers. This week, the show is presented in 3 parts:

Monologue:

Sketch:

And Interview:

I also checked in with my Episode 1 guest, Bobby Koester, to ask him what he thought of doing the show. Fortunately, he said "Loved it man. So much fun."

He went on to say:

"My favorite part before the interview was when I got to wear that doctor's mirror while you did your monologue. My favorite part of the interview was thinking about your monologue and Kristen's nice smell drowning out your bad one."

When pressed to elaborate on what I smell like, Bobby explained: "like old snails." Whatever the hell that means.

Seeya soon, guys, enjoy the show!

Bonus footage from episode 1!

Hello again, everybody! As I sit here, editing episode 2 (releasing this Wednesday at 11:00), I can't help but reminisce about the filming of episode 1.

Obviously, there was some damn good stuff that made it's way into the final product, but what you may not have realized is that we filmed significantly more than just what you saw. And so, I'm excited, happy, and proud to be able to present to you the extended footage of my "interview" of Bobby Koester!

Watch as Bobby improvises explanations for more stupid pictures he had no prior knowledge of!

Honestly, we were insanely happy to have him as our first ever guest on the show, he's a great friend of ours who we hope to be working with again as soon as is possible.

Again, look forward to episode 2, featuring my guest Allie Palmer, which will be uploaded on Wednesday at 11:00pm!!

HAPPY PREMIERE, EVERYBODY!

Well everybody, the first ever episode of Up Late with Will Rogers is officially up on YouTube in all it's grainy glory. Part 1 is the monologue, Part 2 is the guest segment!

You can find Part 1 here:

And here's Part 2:

In the course of the episode, during a stupid segment, I manage to thank Kristen and Allie, but the truth is that I have several more people who really deserve my thanks and gratitude, including, but not limited to:

Mike Costa, who designed every logo for the show
Bobby Koester, who is the funniest guy I know, and who makes this first episode great
Sarah Becker, Dan Kasinec, and Tommy Becker, for being my first ever audience
Mike Schin for going insane during the monologue

And even though I DID thank them in the episode, I seriously need to thank Allie Palmer and Kristen Rogers for not calling me an idiot when I told them I wanted to do this show, and for then pretty much doing everything for me.

Whew, I'm so happy this episode is over. Time to get started editing episode 2 and planning episode 3.

Expect some bonus footage from Bobby's interview in the coming week, and look out for Episode 2 featuring Allie Palmer NEXT Wednesday.

Please be sure to give the video a thumbs up if you liked it, and DON'T hit the "thumbs down" button if you didn't!

And now I'm going to watch the most important 11:00 talk show: Conan.

Two down!

WE JUST FILMED EPISODE 2!!!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. There are only 24 hours left until Episode 1 premieres with my guest and great friend Bobby Koester!

It's been a damn good time doing it all, and I can't wait for everyone to get to see it!

But now I'm getting WAY ahead of myself...I haven't finished editing yet...

LEAVE ME ALONE. I have work to do.

Episode 1 tomorrow at 11:00!

Technical housecleaning and a new video

Our goal with Up Late is to have a good time and while hopefully that comes across, the way we film is more than clumsy due to limited resources. For episode one, Allie Palmer was running a hand held camera, while a second camera remained stationary, and my iPod filmed the audience. This, I believe, will be the structure of filming for a long time.  So while the style may not be as visually stunning as say, that of a Carson Daly, we think that the content will make up for it.  The plan is to film a new episode every Tuesday, which will be aired the following week on Wednesday.

I know that was a clumsy sentence, try to keep up. SO, due to this week-long gap, we are forced to get creative with our monologues. For example: we filmed episode one on Tuesday, January 25th. If we were to air that monologue on February 2nd, all the news items would be a week late and therefore completely irrelevant. For that reason, each episode will air with a more recently filmed monologue.  Because of this splicing you may have to roll with minor discrepancies in outfit, Kristen's hair color or my aforementioned hair density. Confused?  So am I. Deal with it.

In a nutshell: the most recently aired episode will have the most recently filmed monologue. The monologue just has to be fresh, you know?

All this essentially leaves the monologue we filmed last week in limbo, so I'm posting a cut of it here as a taste of what the show will be like.  Consider it a prototype.  Enjoy! And look forward to more behind the scenes footage today and tomorrow, leading up to Wednesday's premiere!

Again I remind you, email us at UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com with any ideas, jokes, sketch ideas and suggestions that you have, and we'll absolutely include them!

I'm looking forward to Wednesday, and I hope you are too!

Eyes/Ears Open!

I'm excited to announce the creation of my upcoming YouTube talk show "Up Late with Will Rogers!"

For a long time now, I've been struggling to come up with a light-hearted, fun way to ultimately find out which will happen first: my hair falling out or it turning completely grey. Unfortunately, to truly document the entirety of this grim race, I would have had to start filming two years ago.

NEVERTHELESS, I like this show for other reasons too.

In addition to documenting the horrific changes in my appearance, the primary function of the show will be as a platform from which to tell topical jokes and engage family, friends and casual acquaintances in conversations about a range of subjects. Any topic is fair game, from our favorite type of cookies to the most earth-shattering, mind altering, metaphysical quandaries. Expect mostly things along the lines of the cookies though.

So there you have it. Bookmark this page if you haven't already, because this blog will be constantly updated in the coming weeks by not only myself, but by more talented people than I, who are helping me make this show a reality. We will be discussing our progress in making the show, including the pitfalls of learning what we simply can't accomplish.  Don’t like to read? Well we’ll be also be uploading behind the scene’s footage  in mind-blowing 2D  from our grainy camcorders!

“Up Late with Will Rogers”, coming every Wednesday night, starting in February!

And starting next week, you can look forward to footage from our attempts to get this show going!

If you would like to be featured as a guest, attend a filming of an episode, or even if you have suggestions as to what you'd like to see from the show, feel free to e-mail us at UpLateWithWillRogers@gmail.com
